Identify the agent that will run it

Cursor's own agent and the Codex extension running inside Cursor are different hosts. A tool that works through the Codex extension does not automatically become a Cursor agent plugin.

Use the supported surface on the listing, then follow that host's installation instructions. Editor location alone is not enough to establish compatibility.

Portable components and native wrappers

OpenAI and Cursor document the Agent Plugins format for portable skills and MCP configuration. Both also have native packaging with host-specific behavior.

A package containing OpenAI app mappings can require different wiring in Cursor. Prefer a provider's Cursor package or direct MCP guide when the original bundle does not document Cursor support.

Skills still depend on tools

Both hosts discover skills built around SKILL.md, but shared file structure does not guarantee that the instructions can execute. Tool names, shell access, local files and account connections can differ.

The Codex Imagegen sample expects Codex's built-in image tool. Copying the skill into Cursor does not create that tool; Cursor provides its own documented image generation capability.

Read the compatibility label literally

Documented means a product or author describes the listed host setup. Format-level means the host recognizes the asset format while this particular execution path remains unverified.

Every current listing is documentation-reviewed and has not been runtime-tested by this directory. Check the source date, requirements and limitations, then confirm the asset in your own environment before depending on it.
